  Sunglass lenses

Have you ever wondered why sunglasses lens are different colors. Maybe you thought that were just a fashion statement. But the truth is that they really do mean something. Sunglasses lenses are made of glass, plastic or polycarbonate. The green glasses are glass lenses that are the heaviest lens available and they also have the best clarity. The gray sunglasses lenses cut out the light and they do not change or distort the colors. The red lenses mean they offer more of a contrast and enhancement but they do have a greater tendency to distort images.

Brown lenses have some contrast enhancements and they have a very small change of image distortion. The orange and yellow glasses offer the most color and have the best depth perception. The clear lenses do not dim the light but they do offer a great UV protection. You probably did not know that, you may have thought that they were just color glasses. They look great and they were just for show.

Next time you are looking to buy a pair of sunglasses and you see the red lenses remember they may look good but they will distort the image. Even the clear lenses are not the best choice either. It seems that the green lenses are the best choice, they have the best clarity and they are a heavier lens so they will not crack so easy if you happen to drop them.
